Not only did I print that pronto plate, I ALSO printed it on the handmade paper that I pulled last week. The paper, a mix of cotton with a dash of kozo, also had clippings of my hair. Being a happy nappy head, the hair created an interesting texture against the white paper, and even clumped in some areas…which is what natural black hair tends to do naturally.
The drawn pronto plate worked in tandem with the paper, as the drawing was of clumps of swirls and knots, inter-tangled and connected by long tenious strands.
Interestingly, I never meant the two to go together. They were separate projects. But as each project developed, I began to see how they would support one another.
